El Dorado County has approved plans for a new community center in Grizzly Flats, where residents have been working to establish a gathering place since the Caldor Fire devastated the mountain community in 2021.

County Zoning Administrator Aaron Mount approved a conditional use permit Wednesday, Oct. 21, for a 6,953-square-foot building on 20 acres at 7084 Pinehaven Drive, near Tyler Drive. The project includes a basketball court, playground and parking for 130 vehicles.
