Placer One’s first neighborhoods rise along the newly extended Sunset Boulevard.
Less than a year after homebuilders began securing lots at the 2,200-acre Placer One project, the site has entered a new phase — homes are now rising from the ground.
During the Onsite Observer’s visit this week, multiple residential villages were visibly under construction, marking the first signs of a community taking shape. The newly opened extension of Sunset Boulevard now carries traffic west from Foothills Boulevard to Fiddyment Road, threading through the heart of the project and giving the public its first glimpse inside the future community.

Among the builders active on site, JMC Homes and KB Home have made the most visible progress. JMC’s Glenfield neighborhood features one-story entry-level homes starting at $499,990, ranging from 1,249 to 1,251 square feet with two to three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Homes are already listed for sale, and vertical construction is well underway.
Nearby, Bridgefield by JMC Homes offers larger residences between 2,503 and 3,822 square feet with four to six bedrooms and three to five bathrooms, including private guest suites and some layouts with a second primary suite. Three homes are currently under construction.
KB Home has also begun building its first neighborhoods. Canterbury at Placer One includes homes from the mid-$500,000s, ranging between 1,708 and 2,240 square feet with three to four bedrooms and two to three bathrooms. Vertical construction has started, though no listings appear yet on the builder’s website.
Brighton at Placer One is also under construction, featuring plans between 1,751 and 2,541 square feet with three to four bedrooms and two to three bathrooms. Pricing has not yet been disclosed.
Other builders, including Taylor Morrison and Pulte Homes, have announced future plans within Placer One but have not yet started vertical construction.
Located within the broader Sunset Area Plan, Placer One was approved in 2019 and is planned to deliver 5,636 homes, a 300-acre Sacramento State–Sierra College campus, and roughly 5 million square feet of commercial space. The development broke ground in 2022 and is led by Taylor Builders, a Roseville-based land development and investment company.
